With many high-profile ransomware attacks at similar schools over the past few years, Hills Grammar School wanted to ensure their systems were set up for success. Each student group and staff member also had their own VLAN and with the prevalence of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), password education, firewalls and data protection were all top concerns that required ongoing consultation to manage.
Sekuro conducted an internal/external penetration test and a vulnerability assessment to interrogate the ICT system. A complete cyber optimisation and maturity assessment was then undertaken to inform Hills Grammar of a 12 month action plan for their ICT team including budget prioritisation and vulnerability mitigation. Delivered as a partnership and ‘as-a-service’, Hills Grammar and Sekuro meet on a weekly basis to assist with any queries and simulate activities such as phishing attacks, that are then presented at the School’s Director’s meetings.
Aside from being able to enlist a consultative expert within budget, Hills Grammar was able to reduce the staff open rates of their phishing simulation by more than 90%. As Sekuro provides ongoing series of educational newsletters distributed to everyone within the school, individuals can be updated with the latest cyber security concerns and developments. Hills Grammar School is considered a leader in cyber security risk mitigation in education, due to its solid data protection policies, firewall implementation, and sophisticated network segregation.
