Simple, Consolidated Solutions: How the Way We Procure Security Services Is Changing

To mark Sekuro’s launch of its Zero Trust Strategy services on the AWS Marketplace, we are delivering a series of blogs that are designed to help you maximise the new offering.

The way we procure security services is changing. Just as consumer buying behaviour shifts as technology evolves, so does the way enterprises purchase software and services. When it comes to cyber security, organisations are looking for bespoke solutions to fit their individual – often complex – needs. At the same time, organisations demand a seamless transaction experience.

This means organisations are turning away from working with a laundry list of vendors and are instead consolidating their cyber security solutions to create Right-Fit strategies whilst gaining efficiencies across the procurement and billing process.

In February 2024, Sekuro announced its Zero Trust Strategy offering could now be purchased via AWS Marketplace. The launch of Sekuro’s Zero Trust Strategy services on AWS ushers in greater convenience for its clients to purchase and manage their Zero Trust strategy solutions to meet their changing needs.

Consolidating your security footprint

With the overnight shift to remote working in 2020 as well as high-profile breaches making headlines one after the other, it’s not surprising that we observed recency bias and loss aversion kicking in to drive panic or fear-based buying from organisations looking to shore up their defences quickly. This means many organisations now have tools they may not need based on the specific threats they face.  Whilst in the face of increased cyber awareness, security budgets remain strong and have been resilient to market forces. During an economic downturn, organisations are looking for value. They want to do more with the budget they have.  In response, organisations are looking to improve cost transparency and reduce wastage by consolidating the number of vendors they engage with. Sekuro’s Zero Trust Alliance member Zscaler, for example, helps deliver hundreds of millions of costs savings for customers through consolidation and standardisation of security tools.  In addition, consolidating your security stack can improve your organisation’s defences by reducing the attack surface, stopping compromise, and preventing lateral movement. All of this is harder to do when you have endless point solutions that don’t effectively communicate with each other.

Simplifying billing

Ease of purchase has been a critical focus for B2C companies over the past two decades – think Apple Pay or click-to-shop features on social media platforms. We’re now seeing this play out in the B2B space through platforms like AWS Marketplace that provide seamless transactions and consolidated billing.

Foad Farrokhnia, Vice President, Channels and Alliances, Asia Pacific & Japan at Zscaler notes that “buying enterprise software can be a time-consuming and inefficient process. Beyond the strategy, enterprise software procurement requires coordination with many stakeholders across multiple functions – from finance to compliance.”

Zscaler explains that the AWS Marketplace can dramatically simplify and speed up the software buying process by eliminating a lot of the red tape. This is because buyers can transact directly with Marketplace sellers and receive one bill.

Whether you’re looking to find efficiencies due to economic pressures or you want to simplify your technology stack to shore up your defences,  AWS Marketplace does just that, making a mature and holistic cyber security posture even more accessible — especially to organisations seeking to extend their existing AWS capabilities.
